Congress of Baboons

According to Wikipedia, “the collective noun for baboons is commonly troop or congress”. Not very flattering to the military or legislators ain’t it?

That is rather funny Senor. You had me gigglin at work and my coworkers looked at me like I was crazy.

I would like to see some of these congressmen spend one day in the ER with the high caliber citizens we see on a daily basis.

If you want a good laugh read my post about Carlos’ dumb criminal act or just some of the comments that people left about the situation.

Ha! Baboons. They are the loudest, most dangerous, most obnoxious, most viciously
aggressive and least intelligent of all primates. SO
    THAT YOU UNDERSTAND WASHINGTON POLITICS

Yeah…the most interesting thing about this post, is that it’s THE most popular post on this blog. It got 1,533 unique visitors last month alone.

A “congress” of baboons is not correct!!  It is either a troop or sometimes a group of baboons is called a rumpus.  Congress makes for a good laugh maybe but is WRONG.

Well, it seems you’re right. The Wikipedia entry I based this post on has been corrected now. But if you go to Google US, and type “congress of”… in the search box, it still shows “Congress of baboons” as a suggestion. That’s how I originally wrote this entry. A wierd thing is that, according to Merriam Webster’s online definition, one of the meanings of congress is: coitus!
