Up to now, the OAS has been upholding a ridiculous policy of ignoring the interim government of Honduras. Today, after a meeting with US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, both sides have agreed to accept Costa Rican President and Nobel Laureate Oscar Arias to mediate a truce.
Praise God! This has a much greater probability to achieve my desire, a peaceful handover of power in January, and a return to normality for Honduras. I hope they will come to an agreement. Many options are on the table, and some make me squirm with discomfort. But, even a full pardon for Zelaya would be acceptable, even if bitter for me, as long as he does not remain in power, and normal elections are held in November or earlier.
