Proxy War in Honduras disguised as Civil War

As usual, Chávez projects the language he wants the media to use a few days before he attacks. For instance if war erupts in Honduras, it wouldn’t be a civil war, but a proxy war. But Chávez called it a civil war, and Oscar Arias echoed him. Victory.

Chávez, using his puppets Ortega and Zelaya, would set up an “insurgency” to attack the new government, and claim that the resistance is from Honduran citizens. Remember Iraq anyone? Iran and Syria sent their fighters to Iraq to destabilize the weak democratic regime there.

A Civil War would be that a leader inside our country would lead a conventional military war against the government, using Honduran troops.

Pretty close, Aaron. Try this one:

"A civil war is a war between organized groups within a single nation state. The aim of one side may be to take control of the nation or a region, to achieve independence for a region, or to change government policies.[1] It is high-intensity conflict, often involving regular armed forces, that is sustained, organized and large-scale. Civil wars result in large numbers of casualties and the consumption of large resources."

Thanks Pete, that's much clearer.

Well Aaron
that is why lots of freedom loving hondurans are cleaning their old rifles, shotguns, pistols and peashooters in order to prevent this sort of crap from happening.

Personally I always think it a mistake to disarm the people back in 2000, but Alas! lots of folk still have some sort of weapon (others more than 1) to fend for themselves in a crisis, and these fols are not criminals, mareros, hoodlums or whatever, they are freedom loving people who only long to live in peace, down a few beers on friday and watch soccer on a sunday, i.e. normal folk.

If the ALBA attacks will we answer?

…what Chavez doesnt see is that our armed forces come directly from the core of the honduran people, everyone in Honduras has a friend, acquaintance, family member in the armed forces….and everyone born before 1976 has some sort of military training given the fact that once upon a time military service was mandatory.

You think that if sh*t hits the fan hodurans will go around killing other hondurans for the sake of a
4th Urn or a megalomaniac corrupt former president and his irreverent puppetmaster?…

…not likely, those who attempt to destroy our way of life will be insurgents from ALBA nations and of those guys we arent either friends or families, just bad acquaintances, and we know what to do with unwanted guests.

Got my rifles oiled and loaded BTW, dont want no trouble though, but if trouble knocks on my door well…things´ll have to be dealt with.

sorry if its too long, I got carried away by inspiration ;)

I agree Daniel, I doubt guns will be needed, but as I was telling a friend who is a Captain in the Honduran Army, I wish I were a "militar" so I could fight against Chavez together with them.

The truth is, though, that the enemy will be disguised, like in Iraq and in Vietnam. The enemy will present themselves as innocent civilians, and behind that cowardly human shield, will invite the army to attack, and be skewered by the mainstream media.

If this is a proxy war, why is it that Micheletti and his cronies are committing all of the crimes? This situation is not related to re-election. They have been planing this coup for several months. Micheletti is actually the dictator. He has destroyed democracy. He has destroyed The constitution. He can never return the power to the people as he says he will in his lies. If he does he will be the first one to go to jail.

A country that has required military service only trains its own enemy. If this comes to war, the corrupt officers will find that death threats are no longer enough to control the enlisted. They will go back to serve their true loyalties in their community.

Actually you have one point right, but backwards. This is an issue of freedom. What we see going on throughout Latin American is a collective act of liberty. All of the people are standing up and demanding justice and freedom. They have had enough of be held as peons. They have had enough of seeing their families murdered by the owners. There is no single puppet-master. Even more frightning no one person can be blamed.

Actually there is one person that can be blamed. The one in the mirror. Those that are threatened by this movement should ask themselves why.

Anon, what about the crimes committed by Marcelo Chimirri that never got to court because of Zelaya's protection? What about the 18 crimes that were allegedly committed by Zelaya, including embezzlement of public funds?

What crimes has Micheletti committed?

I am not the one making the threats, it is Chavez who threatens. Unplug your bias and listen to him again for the first time.

I am no oligarch. But when I cannot express a dissident opinion in public, I am not free. Look at the way Chavez is repressing the media in Venezuela.

Please be honest with yourself and perhaps I'll listen to you.
