Sadly these videos don’t show Rixi Moncada’s comments, nor those of the Micheletti delegation. Those were the most interesting parts of the talks, in my opinion.

Zelaya’s Doublespeak

Oscar Arias presented a new resolution, very similar to his earlier, seven point proposal this afternoon. He simply reworded his proposals, and reshuffled them. Delegations from interim government, and Manuel Zelaya attended a meeting where he read the proposal and answered, with visible anxiety, the questions of the Honduran press.

One of the questions was to ask President Arias, what guarantee he could give us that, should Manuel Rosales return to office, he will not press on with the constitutional assembly for indefinite reelection. He replied that this was one of the points of the accord he drafted. Zelaya’s delegation has claimed to accept that accord, more on that below.

Telesur’s live feed televised Zelaya delegate Rixi Moncada’s statements, but unfortunately cut off footage of Micheletti’s delegation mid-sentence. For the benefit of the doubt, this might have been a cutoff because of excess web traffic, but somehow I have trouble believing this.

Ms. Moncada’s statement was riddled with numerous lies. Amongst them came an interesting statement, the admission that Zelaya is behind the “National Front Against the Coup”, which she claimed was supported by most of the population, and the leaders of Honduras.

Zelaya has claimed to accept Arias’s plan since Saturday; and Telesur gleefully reported it. But, on that very day, he admitted to a Brazilian news source that he will press on with a constitutional assembly. Is he lying or does he believe two contradictory statements at once?

Worse, this very morning, the “National Front Against the Coup” was handing out flyers in Tegucigalpa in favor of a constitutional assembly. This is expressly forbidden by Saturday’s seven point Arias plan Ms. Moncada claimed Zelaya’s delegation has accepted five days ago. Doublespeak! Doublethink! How can we trust liars like these!

Video Footage of July 22 Peace March

The above footage is of today’s peaceful demonstration, which surprisingly, was cursorily mentioned in a BBC article about continuing talks in Costa Rica.

Micheletti’s delegation is on its way to San Jose, Costa Rica to continue talks. Manuel Zelaya faces pressure from Hugo Chávez and other extreme left pundits for having even agreed to participate in these talks. They say that the talks are a dilatory measure backed by the United States.

Zelaya has recently declared several times that his delegation will no longer attend them. Nevertheless, I predict that Zelaya’s delegation will attend, because the alternative is Zelaya’s return to Honduras, and immediate arrest, with or without bloodshed.

The above image shows tens of thousands of people marching against the return of Mel Zelaya as proposed by Oscar Arias, the United States, the Organization of American States, the UN, Venezuela, and Cuba.

Update on March

A tiny group of pro-Zelaya protesters tried to make a disturbance in today’s peaceful demonstration. They promptly fled though. They looked very young, and were probably just high school kids looking for a little limelight. The events took place in front of Televicentro, one of the major Honduran media in radio and television

The demonstration has reached two kilometers in length, according to Venezuelan news source, El Universal. The picture below, from El Heraldo, is from inside the Lempira-Reina baseball stadium.

National Front Flyers Reveal Sinister Intentions

A group calling themselves the “National Front Against the Coup” has distributed flyers in the Honduran capital, calling for a meeting to mobilize the return of Manuel Zelaya Rosales, and the establishment of a constitutional assembly.

Let me repeat this for emphasis: the establishment of a constitutional assembly. What for? They aren’t going to reform the territorial extension of the country, only two articles remain that need a constitutional assembly: reelection and the presidential term. But this is so revealing! Not only are they admitting that they seek to modify the constitution to allow presidency for life, but their emblem is a map of South America, with a bit of Central America attached. So Costa Rica is an ALBA nation now?

Wednesday Talks Postponed

Today’s negotiations in Costa Rica have been postponed, CNN, Reuters and The New York Times report. There’s not much to say, except that I wish I would have read this first on local news which caught up hours later, instead of international news agencies.

Zelaya has already declared the negotiations a failure, but international news sources fail to report this. He declared them a failure from the moment he set foot in San Jose at the beginning of the talks. He has haid he will return immediately to Honduras so many times, that it is evident we should not take him seriously…but watch out; he is a wolf crying “Wolf!”.

At this moment, a major manifestation is scheduled to walk from Liberty Tower to the Lempira Reina Stadium. There are no images or video of this yet, as it is occurring at this moment. It was organized by a non-partisan organization called UCD, Civic Democratic Union. The march was named “Great March of Patriotism and Valor”.
