I am angry they would give the Nobel peace prize to Obama, who has done nothing for Honduras or Iran. But then I remember that George W. Bush also won correction, was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, just before the Iraq war began.

The prize is meaningless. (Sour grapes?)

Of all Nobel prizes this is one I consider total B.S. they always give to people that dont go according to peace, well in some cases they have but thats more of an exception than a rule…

Obama Nobel Peace Laureate….right. Danny G king of the solar system!

I don’t think you’ll find that George W. Bush ever won a Nobel peace prize.

You are correct Pete, he was a nominee..sorry. http://www.snopes.com/rumors/nobel.asp

How could a leader who wrongly accused another country and continue to withhold help for that country be given the peace prize? Even if the leader believes he’s right, withholding help to a poor nation is no peaceful mean.

Seriously, there should never be a Nobel Prize for anything beyond science and mathematics. At the very least, there should never be a prize for peace.

The Nobel Peace Prize is supposed to be given to a hero. But in many cases, a hero for one is a villain for another.

Even if you can find untainted heroes, the Nobel Prize is like a spot light which illuminates one hero (and his effort) but shadows the rest of the heroes (and their efforts.) In the worst case, it will illuminate one instance of injustice but effectively provides cover for the rest.

Taking away the spot light will allow each hero to get equal recognition. At the same time it will allow us to deal with all instances of injustice equally.

It should be for what a nominee HAS accomplished, not what they HOPE to accomplish. I think it has diminished the award.

Well, apparently it is a meaningless prize as I just read that he was nominated 10 days after he became president. How can that be?

l´m honduran, and I almost laughed my head of when I heard about this. My God! who´s next, Hugo Chavez?

Its a meaningless discussion just like the prize itself. because once the prize is announced it has lost the credibility. I think nobel prize committee is become like United Nations which works on the orders of USA.
